Real estate maven Barbara Corcoran on Thursday called her brother’s death in the Dominican Republic a “tremendous loss” — but maintained it’s unrelated to the spate of mysterious tourist fatalities on the island.
New Jersey native John Corcoran was on vacation with his friend Gabby Rodriguez when he died suddenly of a heart attack April 21.
Corcoran told “Today” that her “phenomenal brother” had an existing heart condition.
The 60-year-old construction company owner, who “loved the DR and vacationed there frequently,” was buried in Rodriguez’s hometown of Bonao on the island, Barbara has said.
The “Shark Tank” star said no autopsy had been done on her brother’s body.
At least nine Americans have died under mysterious circumstances on the island in the last three months, the New York Times reported.
California man Robert Bill Wallace, 67, died on April 14 while staying at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Punta Cana.
Miranda Schaup-Werner, 41, of Pennsylvania, collapsed and died in her room on May 25 after having a drink from her minibar at the Luxury Bahia Principe Bouganville in La Romana.
Five days later, Edward Holmes, 63, and Cynthia Day, 49, were found dead in their room at the neighboring Grand Bahia Principe resort.
