Manhattan man clinging to life after fall from electric scooter

A Manhattan man was clinging to life Friday after falling off his electric scooter in Midtown, police said.

The 60-year-old man was driving the motorized scooter at about 8:45 p.m. near Park Avenue and East 58th Street when he fell of the bike and slammed into the pavement, authorities said.

Witnesses told police they heard a crash and saw the man on the ground, cops said. It was not immediately clear what caused the crash.

The man, who lives near the scene of the crash and whose name was not released by cops, was rushed to Cornell New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in critical condition, authorities said.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
