Giants guard Chris Snee stuck up for his father-in-law and coach Tom Coughlin amid talk that he could be fired if the team does not make the playoffs.
“Two weeks later everyone changes their viewpoint of the guy,” Snee said, according to the AP. “It’s absurd. I realize that’s the profession we are in and that can be a possibility.”
The Giants seemed to be marching toward a division title before blowing a 31-10 lead to the Eagles in the final eight minutes two weeks ago. Then they fell behind in the wild-card race when they were thumped by the Packers, 45-17. The Giants need a win over the Redskins and a loss by the Packers against the Bears to make the playoffs now.
“Why not?” Snee said when questioned if ‘absurd’ was too strong a word .
“If we win this, we’ll have 10 wins. He wasn’t the reason we collapsed in the fourth quarter against Philadelphia. He wasn’t the reason we played like (excrement) against Green Bay.”
